About Me

My photo
Hi, I'm Pam and thank you for visiting my blog. I have been making cards for over 10 years and am an independent demonstrator for Creative Expressions. I am lucky enough to teach on cruise ships and also get the chance to demo at The Big Stamping and Scrapbooking Show at Alexander Palace. I run workshops for a local craft shop and if anyone would like details of the them please e-mail me at stephen.smith870@ntlworld.com I love to scrapbook but my all time favourite thing is to get messy with ink!

WOYWW

Good Morning All and a very happy WOYWW.

To kick things off, here's a photo of my desk.

You'll be able to see a pot of Cosmic Shimmer Summer Meadow Gilding Flakes, some Flake and Glitter Glue, my scooshy and a large A6 Dot background stamp from Sam Poole at Creative Studios.  There's also the stamped and gilded card at the front.  I'm working on a project for the workshops at Martells in February next year!
The next workshop is on Saturday and we won't be having any after November until next year and I know they'll want to know what we're going to do!

I've posted my DT piece on the Creative Studios blog this morning (for link, go to Sam on the right).  It's a Christmas card, thought I'd better get started!  All of the step by steps are on the CS blog.

Here's the finished card...non-traditional colours for a change!
Yesterday was my first "official" post as a DT member for Creative Expressions and you can see the card and step by step in yesterdays post.

Onto other matters.  Some of you may know about the kitten that my daughter rescued from a sealed cardboard box.  He seemed poorly on Saturday and so she rushed him to the emergency vet 20 miles away.  He told her that the kitten was going to die possibly in the next few days or months and that he could put Gonzo to sleep there and then.  It seems that the poor little chap has a congenital condition that will always afflict him.  Sam (my dd) wanted a second opinion from her own vet so took the kitten there on Monday (she was in tears thinking that he wouldn't be coming home with her).  Her own vet said that although Gonzo has a problem he could live a very happy life for years to come but would always need extra help.  It seems that an aorta to the brain didn't grow properly and so he is always going to be very slow and disabled.
The upshot is that he is fine but will always be like a tiny kitten in his ways and won't ever be able to go outside.  He can, however, play and enjoy his many cuddles.  One much happier daughter who is fully prepared to give him as much love and care as he needs.  I really think that she was meant to find him.  We're kitten sitting while she goes to work and as her partner works shifts, it means that the kitten always has someone there with him.
Someone told her she was being cruel keeping him alive as it would restrict her freedom!  It wasn't the vet who told her that there was no reason to put Gonzo to sleep.
We're so glad that she got a 2nd opinion and trusted her instincts.  Glad I got that off my chest but it'll be a long time before I forgive the 1st vet for putting her and her partner through so much stress.

Well, that's it for today.  Sorry it's gone on a bit!  The blog candy is still there. down to just 13 more now.  I might be a bit late getting around the desks this week as I have to go out today.

Many thanks for your visits and comments. Until next time...

I like the black and gilded card in the first shot...ooh, bling, I just can't resist it :-) and I like the damson and autumn l colours in the second shot too!
Good for your daughter for rescuing the kitten...people's comments don't matter, just what your daughter and her partner are prepared to do that counts.

Hi Pam, my but your post put me through a helter-skelter of emotions ... your poor daughter! What she must have gone through in just a few hours. I'm so glad there's a happy ending ... I'm sure Gonzo is going to have the happy life Vet #2 describes ... and lots of love and care from the whole family.

Love your gilding flake dots - gorgeous on the black card.

Pleased too to here that you didn't suffer too much from the storm. We just got the tail end - lots of rain and wind - no gales.

The packing is almost complete - just the kitchen to be packed up but we still have to eat, etc., so it's being left until the last minute. And no False Widows this far north, yet! It's just a matter of time though.

Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a good week. Elizabeth x #42

gonzo is one lucky kitty. I saw a rescue cat last week i really wanted. He was black with golden eyes. Alas he has HIV, the cat version and this could effect other cats, not humans So I was unable to take him as my bossy cat, now watching over desk would become contaminated.

I'm glad Gonzo has got such a loving home. My cat Poppy was a bit slow - the only cat I've ever known that didn't land on her feet when she fell, but she had a long and very happy life.

Love that gilded sheet - fabulous effect. Thanks for your visit today and have a great week. MMx #41

Lovely non trad card. Afraid your posting about the kitten has really taken over for me. Just tell your daughter she is the kindest, loveliest person in the world. I think she has done an admirable thing in bringing that little kitten back home. May they both enjoy whatever time is deemed for them, God bless them both.

Happy WOYWW Pam! Congratulations on making the CE DT, and that honeycombe looks gorgeous!
I could tell you some tales about vets, mine have let us down a few times! I am sure the kitten will be very happy for however long he lives now. I had a friend who had two cats and one of those was similarly damaged, and had a happy life for years.

I do love those interesting panels of dots on your desk. I wonder what you are going to do with them?! Well done on making a C.card.We'll be needing them soon. So glad the little kitten has found a loving home. the lovely white ball of fluff who is often seen on y desk, is also a rescue cat with a 'life-long condition', but she is very safe and contented in here with me. thanks for visiting me, sorry rather late getting back.
Wow I love that dotty stamp and the way you've done it with Cosmic shimmer, it looks absolutely wonderful
Love the Christmas card too, lovely colours.
So glad Gonzo has a life to look forward to. So many people think that a life with disability is not worth living, but good that your daughter was prepared to get a second opinion and that the second vet was so sensible.
Can we see pics of Gonzo sometime?
Blessings
